Constitution

1. TITLE:

The name of the Society shall be "THE BRITISH SOCIETY OF SKELETAL RADIOLOGISTS" (BSSR)

2. AIMS:

(a) To encourage the study and improve the standard of knowledge of imaging of the musculoskeletal and allied systems.

(b) To provide advice in the practice and training of musculoskeletal imaging.

(c) To arrange scientific meetings on topics of interest in the field of musculoskeletal imaging.

3. MEMBERSHIP:

(a) The Society will consist of Consultants who are Fellows of the Royal College of Radiologists or equivalent qualification who must have a substantial interest in musculoskeletal imaging and allied topics.

(b) Application for membership should be made to the Secretary and will be considered by the Executive Committee with their recommendation made to the Business meetings of the BSSR.

(c) Members who fail to pay their subscription will be deleted from the membership list.

(d) Members may resign in writing from the Society at any time.

(e) Members who fail to attend a BSSR meeting over a period of two years will be deemed to have resigned from the Society unless there are special circumstances preventing their attendance.

4. SUBSCRIPTIONS:

(a) An annual subscription will be levied and is due on the date determined by the Secretary/Treasurer.

(b) The amount of the subscription will be determined by the Society and must be approved by 75% of the members present at a Business meeting.

5. BUSINESS MEETING:

A Business Meeting will normally be held at the beginning of each Scientific meeting. A quorum will consist of twenty members of the Society.

6. SCIENTIFIC MEETING:

(a) Scientific meetings will be held twice a year, the time and place will be decided by the majority at the Business meeting.

(b) The organisation of each Scientific meeting is the responsibility of the local organiser who will be required to report to the Executive Committee.

7. GOVERNING PROCEDURES AND OFFICERS:

(a) There will be an Executive Committee to run the business of the Society. The Executive Committee of the Society will consist of the President, Secretary/ Treasurer and five other members of the Society.

(b) The President, Secretary/Treasurer and five other members of the Executive Committee will be elected from and by the membership of the Society.

(c) The maximum term of office should be three years for the President, Secretary/Treasurer.

(d) The other members of the Executive Committee will serve for three years on the Executive Committee but could be re-elected for a second term of three years.

8. FINANCE:

The Society's financial position will be made known to the membership at each Business Meeting.

9. RETIREMENT:

Members who have retired from practice will not be required to pay the annual subscription.
